20-Year-Old Woman Injured in Shooting at Anniston Graduation Party
ANNISTON, Ala. — A graduation celebration turned violent in the early hours of Friday morning when gunfire erupted at a party attended by more than 200 people, leaving a 20-year-old woman injured.
The shooting occurred shortly after midnight on May 30, 2025, at a small event center near Skate Country on Old Gadsden Highway. Anniston police were dispatched to the area of Cherry Street and Old Gadsden Highway at approximately 12:10 a.m. following multiple reports of gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a large crowd fleeing the scene. Witnesses told police that two groups had begun arguing, which quickly escalated when an unidentified individual opened fire. Multiple others reportedly began shooting as well.
During the gunfire, a 20-year-old woman was struck in the thigh. She was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle, and her injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
Investigators recovered over 100 shell casings from the scene and have begun reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses. However, no suspects have been identified as of Friday morning.
Anniston Police Chief Nick Bowles stated, “At this time, our investigators are still conducting interviews but have not identified any suspects yet.”
