CENTRE– A free ALEA Boating Basics Course will take place Saturday, Nov. 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Centre.
According to Cherokee County EMA, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division will present the class. The county agency will host it at its office inside the Cherokee County Administration Building, 260 Cedar Bluff Road.
Registration is open, but anyone registered for the canceled Oct. 10 class does not need to sign up again. EMA says their registrations will automatically carry over to the November session.
The course welcomes participants ages 12 and older. However, children younger than 12 are not eligible to take the exam. Anyone younger than 16 must also attend with an adult who is at least 18.
Participants should bring a notepad and something to write with. They should also bring their driver’s license or have their Social Security number available if they do not have a license.
Experienced boaters can attend as well if they want a refresher. There is no charge for the class.
To sign up, complete the online registration form.
