COLLINSVILLE– Highway 68 paving has ended in Collinsville, but motorists should still expect intermittent lane closures as crews complete remaining work.
The Alabama Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that Wiregrass Construction completed paving Monday, Oct. 26.
The $1 million project covers 2.4 miles from the city limit to U.S. 11.
However, crews still need to place shoulder stone, install permanent pavement markings, and retrofit guardrails at the Big Wills Creek bridge.
In addition, permanent striping requires a two-week curing period for the new pavement. Weather and scheduling also affect when that work can proceed.
For current road conditions, motorists can check ALGO Traffic or use the ALGO Traffic app.
