ANNISTON– Damien Dorsey has resigned as head football coach at Anniston High School.
East Alabama Sports Today’s Joe Medley reported that the school board approved his resignation Thursday, Oct. 22. Superintendent Dr. D. Ray Hill told the publication that Dorsey submitted his resignation letter Tuesday.
Dorsey had been on administrative leave since August 25. Since then, athletic director Chris Rowe has led the Bulldogs as interim head coach.
An Anniston High graduate, Dorsey coached the team’s first game, a season-opening loss at Geraldine, before the administrative leave.
Dorsey also told the publication he plans to focus on his business providing football and track training. However, Hill declined to elaborate on the reason for Dorsey’s administrative leave.
