ROME– The Floyd County Police Department and Blood Assurance will host a blood drive Wednesday, October 28, to support the regional blood supply.
The drive will run from 8 a.m. to noon Eastern time, or 7–11 a.m. Central. Donors should report to the department’s training room at 75 Glenwood School Road in Rome, the former Glenwood School location off Old Dalton Road.
The appeal also has a connection to hospitals serving WEIS listeners in Georgia and Alabama. Blood Assurance lists Atrium Health Floyd and AdventHealth Redmond in Rome among the hospitals it supplies.
In addition, its hospital network includes Polk Medical Center in Cedartown and Cherokee Medical Center in Centre. The organization also says volunteer donations support patients receiving surgery, cancer treatment, trauma care, and other medical services.
Organizers encourage donors to eat a good meal, bring identification, drink extra water, and avoid energy drinks. Donors can also use the registration link provided through the flyer’s QR code to sign up.
Blood Assurance’s QuickScreen allows donors to complete their health-history questions online before arriving. However, they must complete those questions on the day of donation.
Donors will receive a “Game Changers” T-shirt while supplies last, according to the flyer.
The organization also advises allowing about an hour for the entire donation visit. For questions about donor eligibility, contact Blood Assurance at 800-962-0628.
