CENTRE– The City of Centre will host its fourth annual Trunk or Treat on Main Street Saturday, Oct. 31. The police and fire departments’ Halloween celebration runs from 5 to 7 p.m.

Organizers are inviting residents, businesses, churches, civic groups, and other organizations to decorate trunks or tables and hand out candy. The goal is a safe, festive, family-friendly evening for children and their families.

Participants may also offer games, inflatables, or other activities. However, organizers ask anyone needing extra space or electrical power to make arrangements in advance so they can reserve an area.

Meanwhile, Main Street will close beginning at 4:30 p.m., allowing participants time to set up before families arrive. The event flyer identifies the closure area as the stretch from 1st United Methodist Church to the old courthouse.

The city has also committed funding for Halloween candy. As WEIS reported after the Oct. 13 council meeting, council members approved a $3,000 candy purchase for the police and fire departments’ event.

In addition to handing out treats, participating groups can showcase their decorations and connect with neighbors. Organizers encourage community involvement to help make Halloween memorable for local families.
