RAINBOW CITY– A Druid Park shots-fired investigation led to a man’s arrest, but Rainbow City police say no one suffered a gunshot wound.

The Rainbow City Police Department responded to the Shane Lane area at 5:43 p.m. Monday, October 12. The initial call included reports that someone had suffered a gunshot wound.

However, investigators determined that someone had fired a round at a residence in the area, and no one had suffered a gunshot wound. Police say the man then discarded the weapon nearby and left on foot.

Officers and the department’s Detective Division established a perimeter to search for him. Meanwhile, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit responded to assist.

Police later received information that helped them locate the suspect. Officers took Corey Collier, 32, of Union Grove, into custody without incident.

Collier faces charges of Certain Persons Forbidden from Possessing a Firearm and Discharging a Firearm in City Limits. The department reported holding Collier on a $32,500 cash bond.

The department also thanked the sheriff’s office and Etowah County 9-1-1 for their assistance. In addition, police praised their personnel for their work during the response.

Collier is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
