Mr. Joseph C. Cernut

Mr. Joseph C. Cernut, 78, quietly passed over to meet his Lord, following a 3-month illness. 

Funeral services will be on Friday at 3:00PM in the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until the time of service.

He was preceded in death by mother, Frances Bedwell Cernut; aunt, Lois Bedwell; mother-in-law, Frances Sutton Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnson Cernut; daughter, Angela Nichele Cernut; one granddaughter, Abbey Nichele Walsh; two grandsons, Alex Tanner Hall and Liam Edward Cernut; one great-grandson, Dechlyn Ace Spires; and honorary granddaughter, Kaydence Elizabeth Mae Rochester.

Special friends include Dr. Barton Perry, Donna Watts, Doug and Pat Ford, Greg and Sharon Davis, and all the members of the Thursday Morning Coffee Drinking Club at Huddle House.

Mr. “C” taught American History and Philosophy at Cherokee County High School for 43 years. There he met many “Sweet Peas”, “Sweet Petunias” and “Kid”, whom he loved dearly, and they loved and respected him. He will be missed by his family and friends beyond measure.

The family and friends request no flowers or food. Instead, give to your church or charity in Joseph’s memory.

We are the breakers of our own hearts…too bad Kid.
