MONTGOMERY– The Share Your Smile with Alabama photo contest is accepting entries through Nov. 13, 2026. The Alabama Department of Public Health Oral Health Office sponsors the annual competition to promote children’s oral health.

Now in its tenth year, the free contest invites Alabama third graders to submit photographs of their smiles. Homeschooled children ages 8–10 who live in Alabama may also enter, according to the official contest page.

After reviewing entries, organizers will select one girl and one boy as winners. ADPH will then feature their photographs in campaigns promoting children’s oral health. The winners will also appear at a statewide news conference on Jan. 7, 2027.

The department will highlight their photos during February, National Children’s Dental Health Month. State Dental Director Dr. Tommy Johnson said the contest promotes dental care as well as healthy oral habits.

The Oral Health Office also encourages preventive dental visits and community water fluoridation. In addition, its community and school programs focus on preventing dental disease through education and early treatment.
