CENTRE– The Cherokee County Board of Education will meet Monday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m. for a board meeting and its second hearing on the fiscal year 2027 budget.

The meeting will take place at the Cherokee County Schools Central Office, located at 200 Armory Road in Centre.

Following the hearing, board members are scheduled to vote on the FY27 budget. The session follows the first public budget hearing held Aug. 31.

At that hearing, Chief Financial Officer Robin Cunningham presented a proposal projecting revenues of nearly $62.5 million and expenditures of more than $59.1 million. The district’s new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.

During Monday’s meeting, the board will also receive the July 2026 financial report and a report on the Cenergistic Energy Program. Members will consider approval of the district’s capital plan and acceptance of the Sand Rock beverage bid.

In addition, the agenda calls for a proclamation declaring September 2026 as Attendance Awareness Month. The board will also consider a resolution recognizing October 2026 as Statewide Parent & Family Engagement Month.

Other scheduled business includes approval of personnel action and professional development. Board members will review current job postings and receive the superintendent’s update.

The agenda also includes public comments and approval of minutes from the Aug. 31 special called meeting. Members may address other business before adjournment.
