FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – A single-vehicle crash killed one occupant and seriously injured a passenger Wednesday, Sept. 2, on Blacks Bluff Road near the Alabama state line.
According to a WRGA report, the Floyd County Police Department said the crash occurred around midday.
Initial emergency radio traffic indicated that two people were trapped inside the vehicle and needed to be extracted. Dispatchers also requested assistance from first responders in Alabama because the crash occurred near the state line.
Police have not yet included those early scanner details in a public incident report.
Emergency crews airlifted the passenger to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for treatment. Authorities have not released an update on the passenger’s condition.
Investigators are considering whether a medical emergency may have contributed to the crash. Police have not announced a final cause.
As of Thursday morning, authorities had not publicly identified either occupant or said whether either person had connections to Alabama.
The investigation remains ongoing. WEIS will provide additional information as authorities release it.
