ALBERTVILLE – An exchange of gunfire left two men dead and a third wounded early Sunday, Aug. 30, at a home under construction, according to the Albertville Police Department.
Police responded at about 1:15 a.m. to the 1400 block of Oneonta Cut-Off Road. Officers found two men dead from apparent gunshot wounds and another man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators identified the men who died as Hunter Lawrence Moore, 27, and Starsky Dewayne Davis, 50, both of Albertville. Police identified the wounded man as Davis’s son, Starsky Levi Davis, 25, also of Albertville.
According to the initial investigation, the younger Davis owned the property and was there with his father. Police said the two men confronted Moore because they believed he was a prowler.
An altercation followed and escalated into an exchange of gunfire, police said.
The first Albertville officer to arrive provided immediate medical care and applied a tourniquet to Starsky Levi Davis. Albertville Fire & Rescue continued treatment before a helicopter transported him to Huntsville Hospital.
Davis underwent surgery. Police said he is expected to survive.
The Albertville Police Department Detective Division continues to investigate the shooting. Investigators are gathering information and working to determine the full circumstances, according to the department.
APD thanked the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Guntersville and Douglas police departments for their assistance. The Marshall County District Attorney’s Office and Marshall County Coroner’s Office also assisted.
