GAYLESVILLE– Organizers will host a benefit barbecue and motorcycle poker run Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Gaylesville Volunteer Fire Department. The fundraiser will also support Fire Chief Bobby Millican and his family.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with riders leaving the station at noon. The route will include five card stations before participants return to the fire department.

Registration costs $25 for one rider or $40 for two riders. In addition, organizers will award a cash prize.

Organizers invited Cherokee County residents, fellow firefighters, and motorcyclists to attend and show their support. The benefit will help Millican and his family during what organizers described as a difficult time.

Organizers also thanked Brad’s One Stop in Gaylesville, Little River Canyon Jeep Outfitters in the Blanche community, and Yellow Creek Fish Camp in Leesburg. They also recognized Piggly Wiggly, Southern Bubba Q, and Fort Crowe Fireworks in Cedar Bluff.
