Mrs. Edna Conn Steed, age 95 of Centre, passed away on August 27, 2026, at Cherokee County Health & Rehab.
A graveside service will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Cherokee Memory Gardens with Bro. Jeff Chambers officiating.
Survivors include her children, Carla (Jimmy) McGill, Hollis (Nancy) Steed, and Belinda Crane; brother, J.L. (Marsha) Armstrong; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a large circle of other family and friends.
Edna was born in Jasper, GA to the late Carl and Lucille (Gossett) Conn. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at Noah Baptist Church. Mrs. Steed was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devoted employee at Cherokee Baptist Medical Center for decades until her retirement. Throughout her life, she found pleasure in working in her yard and keeping it immaculate- as well as her home. Miss Edna was a simple woman who always made time for her family and was loved by many, and according to her grandchildren, her chocolate cake was like no other!
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ben Hollis Steed, as well as both parents, one brother, and one sister.
