ALEXANDRIA– Drivers should expect temporary road closures and delays Saturday evening during the Alexandria GlowRun 5K.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says the race route will close to vehicles around 7:30 p.m. The closures will remain in place until the race concludes.
The race begins at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, and should end around 9:45 p.m. Runners will start and finish at the Alexandria High School gym.
Drivers should expect delays at several intersections along the route, including:
- Alexandria Jacksonville Highway at Gladden Lane East
- Alexandria Jacksonville Highway at Valley Cub Drive
- Pattiway Drive at Valley Cub Drive
- Pattiway Drive at Alexandria Wellington Road
- Alexandria Wellington Road at Frank Little Drive
- The four-way intersection of Alexandria Jacksonville Highway and Alexandria Wellington Road
Law enforcement officers and event personnel will help manage traffic and protect runners during the event.
The Sheriff’s Office urges drivers to use caution, watch for runners, and follow all directions from officers and event personnel.
Motorists traveling through Alexandria on Saturday evening should allow additional time or consider an alternate route. Residents may also line the course to support the runners while remaining safely away from traffic and the race route.
