Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in South Rome

A motorcyclist was killed Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash at Branham Avenue and Grover Street in South Rome.

ROME– A motorcyclist was killed Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash in South Rome.

The Rome Police Department issued a traffic alert around 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7 after officers responded to Branham Avenue at Grover Street near Lovejoy Baptist Church.

The initial alert described the wreck as a crash with injuries. Police diverted traffic and asked drivers to avoid the area while emergency crews worked at the scene.

WRGA reported Sunday that the collision involved a motorcycle and a passenger car. The motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities had not publicly released the motorcyclist’s identity as of Sunday evening. Available reports also did not identify the car’s driver or indicate whether anyone else was injured.

Police have not announced a preliminary cause or any possible citations or charges. The Rome Police Department continues to investigate the fatal crash.
