LEESBURG– The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office recently hosted regional training for School Resource Officers at the CCSO Training Center in Leesburg.

The SRO Legal Update and MDT Collaboration training brought together officers from Cherokee County, DeKalb County, and the Fort Payne Police Department.

District Attorney Summer Summerford and Deputy District Attorney Brady Burns presented the legal update portion of the training.

Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Stanna Guice led the MDT Collaboration session alongside Children’s Advocacy Center directors Lori Harris and Amber McPherson.

Representatives from the Cherokee and DeKalb County Departments of Human Resources also participated.

Following the event, the sheriff’s office thanked the District Attorney’s Office and the Children’s Advocacy Center for their continued support. The agency also recognized their commitment to providing valuable training for deputies and fellow School Resource Officers throughout the district.

The regional program allowed law enforcement officers, prosecutors, child advocacy professionals, and human resources representatives to train and collaborate.
