RAINBOW CITY– Rainbow City Fire Department Firefighter Cole Neely has earned his Fire Apparatus Operator: Pumper certification through the Alabama Fire College.

The department announced Neely’s accomplishment while recognizing his commitment to professional development and public service.

The certification prepares firefighters to safely operate pumping apparatus during emergency responses. That includes establishing water supplies and supporting fireground operations.

The Alabama Fire College course consists of 40 hours of instruction. It follows the 2024 edition of the National Fire Protection Association’s professional qualification standard for firefighters.

Training covers preventive maintenance, inspections, driving, water supply, sprinklers, standpipes, and pumping operations. Students must demonstrate both technical knowledge and practical operating skills.

Neely joined Rainbow City Fire Department in July. He arrived with Alabama Firefighter I and II certifications and received an assignment to Alpha Shift at Station 1.

Rainbow City Fire Department said continuous training helps ensure its personnel can meet the demands of different emergencies. Additional certifications also strengthen the department’s overall response capabilities.

The department congratulated Neely and thanked him for his commitment to improving his skills. Officials said they look forward to his continued success in the fire service.
