CENTRE– The Centre Fire Department collected 13 units of blood during a community blood drive July 29. The department says those donations could help save up to 39 lives.
In all, eight people participated in the drive. Four of them were first-time blood donors.
The department partnered with Blood Assurance for the event. It thanked the organization and everyone who gave blood.
Donated blood supports patients undergoing surgery or cancer treatments. It also helps people facing traumatic injuries and other medical emergencies.
Additionally, the Centre Fire Department will hold its next blood drive on September 15. The department hopes returning donors and new participants will take part.
