FORT PAYNE– Family, friends, and community members will come together Saturday, August 29, for a benefit supporting Lexi “LuLu” Harris and her family.
Northside Baptist Church will host the fundraiser at 3020 Gault Avenue North in Fort Payne. The event will include a spaghetti supper, T-shirt sales, a cake auction, and live singing.
Organizers invite the community to attend and show Lexi’s family love, faith, prayer, and financial support during her treatment.
Supper, Auction, and Music Planned
The benefit will begin with a spaghetti supper from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. Organizers request a $10 donation for each spaghetti plate.
Special benefit T-shirts will also be available for purchase during the event.
A cake auction will take place from 4:30 until 5 p.m. Afterward, the benefit concert will begin at 5 p.m.
The musical program will feature performances by The Hindman Family, The Sexton Family, and The Kirby Taylor Family.
The fundraiser gives residents several ways to support the family. In addition to attending, visitors can purchase food, bid during the cake auction, buy a T-shirt, or make a direct donation.
The event flyer includes a Cash App QR code for those who want to donate electronically.
Fundraiser Will Support Lexi’s Treatment Journey
According to the event organizers, Lexi recently received a diagnosis of Stage III Wilms tumor, a form of kidney cancer that primarily affects children.
Organizers said Lexi successfully underwent kidney-removal surgery, also known as a nephrectomy. Doctors also placed a port to help with her ongoing treatment.
Lexi is now beginning approximately seven months of chemotherapy and targeted radiation therapy, according to the family.
Known affectionately as “LuLu,” Lexi is the youngest of four children. Her mother plans to remain away from work during treatment. This will allow her to care for Lexi and take her to appointments.
The benefit seeks to help the family as it manages treatment, travel, missed work, and other needs connected to Lexi’s care.
Lexi’s parents are Cody and Kaylee Harris. Her grandparents are Robert and Amy Harris, while her great-grandparents are the Rev. Larry and Gail Hearn.
The family is asking the community to continue supporting Lexi through prayers, encouragement, and donations.
