CHEROKEE COUNTY-Veterans and first responders will receive special recognition during the Honoring Our Heroes Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, July 25.
The event will take place at Richard Lindsey Arena on the Gadsden State Cherokee campus. It will recognize the courage, sacrifice and commitment of veterans and first responders. The evening will also celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5 until 6 p.m. The awards ceremony will follow from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
All veterans and first responders are invited to attend the evening of fellowship, appreciation and recognition.
The Alabama Sports Foundation’s Honoring Our Heroes program teaches Alabama student-athletes about good citizenship. It highlights the sacrifices made by those who protect their communities, state and nation.

The foundation also works to make a positive impact on Alabama’s youth through the program and its mentoring initiatives.
The event is presented by the Alabama Sports Foundation, Alabama Association of Rescue Squads, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency and Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
