Cedar Bluff Honors Jessie Clifton with Street Name

CEDAR BLUFF On the eve of what would have been her 101st birthday, the late Jessie Clifton was honored with a Cedar Bluff road named after her. With Resolution 2026-06 the Cedar Bluff Town Council voted Monday night to name the old Harris Street “Jessie Lane.”

In the council work session Clifton’s daughter, Councilwoman Loretta Higgins, told the assembly of her mother’s devotion to serving others. Higgins stated that her mother served as a Pink Lady at the hospital and also volunteered at the nursing home. Her civic duties included working with the Red Cross and serving on committees such as the Northeast Planning Committee. Mrs. Clifton also served for the community by taking people to the doctor and to the grocery store.

Several members of Clifton’s family were in attendance to see the resolution passed.
