GRANT – A second arrest has been made in an ongoing child sexual abuse material investigation in Marshall County, with authorities saying additional charges are expected as investigators continue examining electronic evidence.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, 60-year-old Wendolyn Martin of Grant was arrested July 1 and charged with three counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and Child Pornography. She was booked into the Marshall County Jail, where she remains on a $250,000 bond.
The arrest stems from an investigation that began several weeks ago when Ricky Burkhead of Grant was arrested following a cyber tip received through the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Burkhead was charged with five counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and Possession of Child Pornography after investigators executed a search warrant at the residence where he was living.
During the search, investigators seized all electronic devices at the home, including a cellular phone belonging to Martin.
Authorities said a forensic examination of the devices allegedly revealed child sexual abuse material and child pornography on Martin’s phone, leading to her arrest.
Investigators said the case remains active, and additional charges are expected for both Burkhead and Martin as the investigation continues.
The investigation is being conducted with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office.
“Our investigators have done a tremendous job in the continuation of this investigation, leaving no stone unturned,” said Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims. “We will continue to aggressively investigate cases involving the possession and distribution of images of underage children in Marshall County.”
