Gadsden State President Alan Smith Reflects on Accomplishments, Looks Ahead to Fall Semester

GADSDENThe following is a message from Gadsden State Community College President Alan Smith:

As we move through the summer, it’s a great time to reflect on the many accomplishments and milestones of the past few months while looking ahead to an exciting fall semester.

April was recognized nationwide as Community College Month, providing an opportunity to celebrate the transformative impact community colleges have on students, families, and local communities. At Gadsden State Community College, we embraced the occasion by hosting activities and events across all five campuses, welcoming students, alumni, employees, and community members to celebrate the many ways our College serves the region.

As we prepare for the upcoming academic year, I encourage all admitted students to register for Cardinal Commit, our annual summer orientation program.

These sessions will help students become familiar with campus resources, connect with fellow students, and start their educational journey with confidence and excitement.

Summer is also an excellent opportunity for transient students to earn affordable college credit. Gadsden State’s Mini Term II begins July 2 and concludes August 6, offering courses that easily transfer to many four-year colleges and universities. Students who are home for the summer can continue making progress toward their degree goals while benefiting from the quality instruction and affordability that Gadsden State provides.

Looking ahead, now is the perfect time to complete admissions and register for Fall 2026 classes. Early registration helps students stay on track with their chosen program of study and ensures access to the courses they need. Whether pursuing a career-focused credential, preparing to transfer to a four-year institution, or exploring academic interests, our advisors are ready to help students identify the pathway that best aligns with their goals.

At Gadsden State, we are proud to be a College for the Community. Our mission extends beyond the classroom as we work to create opportunities, strengthen our workforce, and empower individuals to achieve success wherever life leads them. We look forward to welcoming new and returning students this fall and continuing to serve our communities with excellence.

Together with our faculty, staff, community partners, and supporters, we are creating opportunities that strengthen our region and transform lives. The future is bright for Gadsden State, and we are excited to welcome the next generation of Cardinals.
