Six area softball players earned all-state recognition by the Alabama Sports Writers Association on its annual all-state teams. The teams were released early Thursday morning.
Sand Rock junior third baseman/pitcher Emma Sipsy earned a first-team spot at designated hitter. Sipsy batted .477 with 11 home runs, 16 doubles, three triples, 15 walks, 21 stolen bases, 53 runs, and 50 RBIs for the Lady Wildcats (23-21-1).
Cherokee County High School had two players recognized in second team pitcher Emma Hill and honorable mention designated hitter Izzy Patterson.
Hill, a senior, went 23-12 with 297 strikeouts and a 2.44 ERA in 221 innings pitched. Patterson, a senior catcher and third baseman, batted .403 with eight home runs, a triple, 11 doubles, 16 walks, 37 runs, and 47 RBIs for the Lady Warriors (30-20).
Cedar Bluff (12-19-1) earned a pair of honorable mention players in freshman catcher Paityn Walker and designated hitter Kylie Vadon. Walker batted .438 with 11 doubles, five triples, a home run, 13 stolen bases, 30 runs, and 18 RBIs. Vadon, a senior outfielder, batted .444 with 11 doubles, six triples, four home runs, 12 stolen bases, 31 runs, and 18 RBIs.
Collinsville sophomore outfielder Halle Peek also earned an honorable mention. Peek posted a .413 batting average with five doubles, two home runs, a triple, 18 walks, 34 runs, and 29 RBIs for the Lady Panthers (24-20).
