Fyffe Man Killed in DeKalb County Crash

FYFFE — A single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning claimed the life of a Fyffe man, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Alvis M. Mitchell, 84, was fatally injured in the crash that occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. on June 9. ALEA officials said Mitchell was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

Authorities reported that Mitchell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 75 near DeKalb County Road 41, approximately two miles south of Fyffe in DeKalb County.

The incident remains under investigation by Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division. No additional information was available as of Tuesday.
