Rome Woman Killed, Child Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 27 South

ROME, Ga. — A Rome woman was killed, and a 4-year-old child was injured in a serious three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 27 South near Sanders Drive, according to the Rome Police Department.

The collision occurred shortly before 4 p.m. near the Floyd County and City of Rome line and involved a Dodge Magnum, Ford Taurus and Toyota Sienna.

Police identified the deceased as Maria Luisa Cornejo Reyes, 40, of Rome. Reyes was a passenger in the Toyota Sienna and died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

A 4-year-old child was also injured in the collision and was transported for medical treatment. Authorities have not released additional information regarding the child’s condition.

Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to the scene and provided immediate assistance to those involved in the crash.

The Rome Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team and Traffic Unit remained on scene as investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision.

No additional information has been released by the Rome Police Department. The crash remains under investigation.
