GADSDEN — After more than four decades of service to the City of Gadsden, City Clerk and Treasurer Iva Nelson has retired, closing out a 42-year career with the city that included 24 years in her role as city clerk and treasurer.

Nelson, a lifelong Gadsden resident, spent her career working in municipal government and became a longstanding presence at City Hall, assisting multiple administrations and helping guide the city through decades of local operations and changes.

City officials, including Mayor Craig Ford and members of the Gadsden City Council, recognized Nelson’s retirement and expressed appreciation for her years of dedicated public service.
