District Attorney Summerford Honors Spring Garden Students with Power of 1 Award

SPRING GARDEN — Two Spring Garden High School fourth-grade students were recently recognized for their outstanding character and positive influence on their school community during the school’s annual Awards Day program.

Cherokee County District Attorney Summer Summerford attended the event and presented the Power of 1 Award to Bricelyn Akin and Sebastian Simon, honoring them for their consistent display of kindness, leadership, and positive behavior throughout the school year.

The Power of 1 Award recognizes students who make a meaningful difference in the lives of others through their actions and attitude. School officials noted that Akin and Simon distinguished themselves by regularly demonstrating kindness, helpfulness, and respect toward fellow students, teachers, and staff members.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, both students served as positive role models among their peers and helped foster a welcoming and supportive school environment through their everyday actions.

Summerford praised the students for the example they have set throughout the school year and highlighted the importance of recognizing young people who exhibit strong character and leadership qualities.
