CHEROKEE COUNTY — The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming one of its own back home following an overseas military deployment.

Deputy Michael Pruett recently returned to duty with the Sheriff’s Office after serving overseas with the United States Army Reserve. While local residents know him as Deputy Pruett, he also serves his country as Sgt. Michael Pruett in the Army Reserve.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, and members of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office expressed their appreciation for Pruett’s commitment to both law enforcement and military service, noting the dedication and sacrifice required to serve in both roles.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office said it was proud to welcome Deputy Pruett back to Cherokee County and thanked him for his service to the nation and the local community.

Deputy Pruett’s return marks the completion of another chapter in a career defined by public service. As a member of both the Sheriff’s Office and the Army Reserve, he has balanced responsibilities to his community and country, answering the call whenever needed.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office encouraged residents to join them in welcoming Deputy Pruett home and back to his duties serving the citizens of Cherokee County.
