Gadsden Fire Department Welcomes Three New Firefighters; Snead Earns Excellence Award

GADSDEN — The Gadsden Fire Department is recognizing three new firefighters who have successfully completed the Firefighter I and II Recruit School at the Anniston Regional Training Center through the Alabama Fire College.

Lukas Snead, Ezekiel Voytek and Baylor Long graduated from the intensive 10-week training program, which provides recruits with the skills and knowledge needed to begin careers in the fire service.

Department officials said the recruits demonstrated dedication, determination and professionalism throughout the demanding course of instruction and hands-on training.

In addition to graduating, Snead received the prestigious Jeff Waldrep Excellence Award. The honor is selected by the recruit school’s lead instructors and presented to the firefighter who best reflects the character, leadership, humility and commitment that former Fire Chief Jeff Waldrep displayed throughout his career.

According to the department, Snead distinguished himself through his positive attitude, strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his fellow recruits, making him a deserving recipient of the award.

The Gadsden Fire Department extended congratulations to all three graduates and offered special recognition to Snead for his achievement.

Officials said they look forward to seeing Snead, Voytek and Long serve the citizens of Gadsden with pride and professionalism as they begin their careers in the fire service.
