Bike Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) Returns to Rome and Cave Spring May 31–June 1; Roads Impacted Along Cycling Route
 ROME, GA — Bike Ride Across Georgia (BRAG), one of the state’s premier annual cycling events, will return to Floyd County on Sunday, May 31, bringing more than 900 cyclists through local communities as part of the statewide tour.

Cyclists will travel from Lafayette to Rome on Sunday, with the first riders expected to enter Floyd County around 9:00 a.m. Riders will stay overnight in Rome at The Forum and Heritage Park before departing Monday morning for Cave Spring.

Motorists should expect increased bicycle traffic and temporary delays along portions of the following routes:

Sunday, May 31 – Lafayette to Rome
Roads impacted include:

  • Pocket Road
  • Everett Springs Road (crossing Highway 156)
  • Old Dalton Road (crossing Highway 140)
  • Armuchee Connector
  • AdventHealth ECO Greenway (multi-purpose trail)

Monday, June 1 – Rome to Cave Spring
Cyclists will depart Rome at approximately 7:00 a.m.
Roads impacted include:

  • Broad Street
  • South Broad Street
  • Blacks Bluff Road (crossing on GA Loop 1)
  • Brushy Branch Road
  • George Road
  • Fosters Mill Road
  • Spout Springs Road
  • Mills Road SW
  • Alabama Street

The overnight home base in Cave Spring will be Rolater Park.

Please note that a portion of Monday’s route will extend into Alabama, utilizing Cherokee County Roads 22 and 78 before returning to Georgia.

Event organizers remind motorists that cyclists will be sharing the roadway and are required to obey all traffic signs and signals. Drivers are encouraged to use caution, remain alert for riders, and follow Georgia’s “Three Feet Law,” which requires motorists to leave at least three feet of space when passing a cyclist.

Businesses and residents are encouraged to welcome BRAG participants as they travel through the community and enjoy the hospitality and scenic beauty of Floyd County and Cave Spring.
