CENTRE — Royce Gregory of First Baptist Church of Centre joined Jerry Baker in the WEIS Radio studio Wednesday morning to discuss the return of “Worship on the Lake,” an outdoor summer worship service aimed at bringing faith, fellowship, and community together in a relaxed lakeside setting.

Gregory said First Baptist Centre will host the weekly services every Sunday from May 31 through Aug. 30, weather permitting, at Jake’s on the Lake beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The event will feature a casual, 30-minute outdoor worship service that includes worship music and a brief inspirational message. Gregory said attendees are welcome to arrive by car or boat and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs if attending by land.

Speakers will be placed on the dock to allow those arriving by boat to hear the service from the water. Gregory noted that last year’s event was successful, with attendance reaching as many as 20 boats on some Sundays.

According to Gregory, the gathering attracted not only local residents but also visitors spending time on Weiss Lake during the summer months.

During the interview, Gregory emphasized that Worship on the Lake is intended to create an inviting atmosphere where people can experience worship outside the traditional church setting while reinforcing the idea that faith extends beyond a church building.

He also discussed the importance of Christians serving as a positive and steady influence in the community and said personal testimonies can be meaningful in demonstrating faith and sharing life experiences.

Gregory said the event is designed to remind people of God’s love while creating an uplifting environment for worship and fellowship.

Casual attire, including shorts and sandals, is welcome, and many attendees stay afterward to eat at Jake’s on the Lake in appreciation for hosting the event. Gregory also noted the location offers deep-water access, making it suitable for nearly any type of boat.

Worship on the Lake will be held each Sunday through Aug. 30, weather permitting, and organizers encourage the public to attend.
