Centre Fire & Rescue to Host Community Blood Drive, Encourage Lifesaving Donations

CENTRE, Ala. — Centre Fire & Rescue is encouraging residents to help save lives by participating in an upcoming community blood drive and taking advantage of donor programs offered through Blood Assurance.

The department will host a community blood drive on Monday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Centre Fire Station located on Main Street. Community members are encouraged to donate blood to help ensure an adequate supply of lifesaving blood products remains available for local hospitals and emergency patients.

Officials say every blood donation has the potential to help trauma victims, cancer patients, surgical patients, and individuals facing other life-threatening medical emergencies. Maintaining an adequate blood supply remains a critical need throughout the year, with local donors playing an important role in supporting patient care when emergencies arise.

In addition to the upcoming blood drive, Blood Assurance is offering several donor incentive programs during 2026 aimed at encouraging consistent donations.

The organization’s “HerO” program allows eligible Type O donors to earn up to $150 in gift cards by committing to donate throughout the year.

For eligible AB plasma donors, the “Absolutely Needed” program offers opportunities to earn up to $580 annually through quarterly donation rewards.

Blood Assurance also offers its “Heart of Gold” platelet donor program, which rewards platelet donors who donate four times each quarter, with additional gift card incentives available during select periods.

Centre Fire & Rescue officials are also encouraging civic groups, churches, businesses, and community organizations to support local blood drives and assist in recruiting additional donors.

Blood Assurance states that hosting or participating in blood drives is one of the most meaningful ways communities can support neighbors in need, emphasizing that donor participation helps save lives every day.

Residents are encouraged to schedule appointments, invite family and friends to donate, and share information about the blood drive through social media and local organizations.
