ALBERTVILLE – The Collinsville Lady Panthers earned a second shot against fifth-ranked Ohatchee on Thursday, but the result was the same as their Class 3A East Softball Regional opener on Wednesday.

Ohatchee scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning off Brayleigh Smith and the Lady Panthers could never quite catch up in a 12-6 season-ending loss.

The Lady Panthers (24-20) began Thursday by eliminating Glencoe 8-1, while Ohatchee outlasted Geraldine 9-8 in nine innings to set up the rematch. Ohatchee defeated Collinsville 5-2 to open the 3A regional in Albertville on Wednesday.

In Collinsville’s win over Glencoe, the Lady Panthers broke the game open with a six-run top of the fifth inning.

Maelee Barkley went 2-for-4 with a run. Halle Peek delivered an inside-the-park home run, a walk, two runs, and a RBI. Ella Coker doubled and scored a run.

Carlee Davis delivered a hit, two runs, and two RBIs. Brayleigh Smith had a hit, a run, and a RBI.

Aubrey Reeves contributed a hit and a RBI. Jemma Smith collected a hit and two walks. Lexii Burt had a hit and a run, and Gabriella Whitmore finished with a hit.

Jemma Smith earned the win after working all seven innings in the circle. She allowed an earned run on four hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.

In Thursday’s loss to Ohatchee, Reeves went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Jemma Smith was 2-for-4 with a run. Burt was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Peek also went 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI.

Davis doubled and scored a run. Barkley collected a hit, a run, and a RBI.

Bella Wills worked 5 2/3 innings in relief of Brayleigh Smith. She allowed six earned runs on 13 hits with four walks and a strikeout.

Ohatchee went on to get eliminated by Randolph County in another rematch from Wednesday. The final of Thursday’s game was 20-4.
