ALBERTVILLE – The Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers proved ready for battle Wednesday at the Class 2A East Softball Regional in Albertville.
They disposed of Falkville in their opening game 7-2 to advance to the winners bracket against Cleveland. In that game, the Lady Tigers rallied from a three-run deficit in the top of the seventh to take the lead, but Cleveland tied the game at 6 in the bottom half to force extra innings.
The Lady Panthers’ Lainey Dixon delivered the walk-off, game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth inning to stun the Lady Tigers 7-6.
Cedar Bluff (12-18-1) faces North Sand Mountain in an elimination game Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
The Lady Tigers pounded out 14 hits in the game. Piper Cromer went 4-for-4 at the plate. Kyriah Vadon had a hit and drove in two runs. Ciana Smith, Kylie Vadon, Tylee Bradford, and Paityn Walker each collected multiple hits for Cedar Bluff.
Emma Blanks earned a no-decision in the circle for the Lady Tigers. She tossed seven innings and allowed six runs on 11 hits with two walks and three strikeouts. She was relieved by Mackenzie Kimmons in extra innings.
Earlier on Wednesday against Falkville, Kylie Vadon hit two inside-the-park home runs in the third and fifth innings and drove in three runs.
Rylie Walker went 3-for-4 at the plate. Smith and Tylee Bradford both collected multiple hits. One of Bradford’s hits was a triple in the top of the second inning.
Kimmons picked up the win in the circle. She allowed both Falkville runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts over seven innings.
