Hill leads Lady Warriors past Hokes Bluff after loss to No. 2 West Limestone in East Softball Regional

ALBERTVILLE – After being held to just one hit in their Class 4A East Softball Regional opener against second-ranked West Limestone in a 9-1 setback, the Cherokee County Lady Warriors rebounded in their losers bracket game against Hokes Bluff.

Emma Hill struck out 11 batters and allowed one run on six hits with a walk in seven innings. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and three RBIs to lead Cherokee County to a 6-1 victory.

The Lady Warriors (28-19) will face area rival White Plains in another elimination game on Tuesday at 9 a.m. It will be the sixth time the two teams meet.

They met three times in the Area 12 tournament earlier this month. The Lady Wildcats won two of the three meetings, including the if-necessary championship game 16-13. The two teams also split their regular season meetings.

Against Hokes Bluff on Monday, Cherokee County scored five runs in the top of the third inning to take control of the game.

Emma Eberhart went 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Kaylee Lewis doubled and drove in a run. Sofie Dawson was 1-for-3 with a run and a RBI.

Brooklynn Bruce and Anna Morris both had a hit and scored a run. Sydni Frost finished with a hit.

In the loss to West Limestone on Monday morning, Katie Lyn Kyle baffled the Lady Warrior batters, limiting them to just one hit.
Bruce had the lone Lady Warrior hit and run. Dawson earned a walk.

Hill suffered the loss after working six innings. She gave up seven earned runs on eight hits with seven walks and four strikeouts.
