DeKalb County Authorities Investigating Interstate Shooting on I-59

DEKALB COUNTY — Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening on Interstate 59 in DeKalb County, leaving one person injured.
According to a report from WAFF 48, DeKalb County Sheriff Investigator Weston Fortner said the incident involved two drivers traveling on I-59 when one driver allegedly shot at another vehicle. Officials have not released information regarding what may have led to the shooting.
Following the incident, the male victim drove to the Fuel City gas station located off Interstate 59 and called 911 for assistance. Authorities say the emergency call was received at approximately 7:15 p.m.
The victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition and was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Investigator Fortner said the victim is expected to be released from the hospital.
Investigators are continuing to search for a suspect in the case. Authorities say they have a description of the suspect vehicle but are not releasing that information at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
