Sand Rock, Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville, Piedmont finish track and field seasons in Cullman

CULLMAN – The 2026 Class 1A-3A high school track and field seasons concluded over the weekend in Cullman. Sand Rock’s boys finished seventh in the Class 2A meet with 39 total points. Cedar Bluff tied for 13th with Lexington with a total of 15 points.

Abbeville and Holy Spirit tied for the Class 2A boys meet state title with 76 total points. Cornerstone and Falkville tied for third with 53 total points. Horseshoe Bend finished one point behind with 52 points. There were 34 teams in Class 2A competing.

In the 2A boys individual events, the Wildcats’ Brody Johnson took third in both the boys’ 1600 meter run (4:37.35) and 3200 meter run (10:14.48).

Will Cleere came in third in the shot put (45’8 1/4”). He also finished fifth in the discus (128’) and ninth in the javelin (143’5”).

Landon Chadwick finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles (17.45). He was also seventh in the 300 meter hurdles (44.32). Brendon Lindsey was ninth in the javelin (120’8”).

The Wildcat boys’ 4×800 meter relay team took second (8:48.36). The 4×100 team and 4×400 team both finished seventh with times of 45.98 seconds and 3:42.08 respectively.

Zyrese Wynn led Cedar Bluff’s boys with first place in the 400 meter run (51.38). He was also sixth in the 800 meter (2:06.88), followed by teammate Zach Jones in seventh (2:08.07).

Sand Rock’s girls came in 14th with 16 points, and Cedar Bluff tied for 27th with Abbeville and Mars Hill with six points in the Class 2A girls state meet. There were 33 teams competing.

The Lady Wildcats’ Mirissa King took third in the discus (92’6”). Sand Rock’s girls 4×800 meter relay team also came in third with a time of 10:54.50.

Katelin Stiefel finished fifth in the 3200 meter run (12:52.82). She was also ninth in the 1600 meter run (5:51.69).

Cedar Bluff’s Kenidee Wright had top 10 finishes in the 200 meter and 400 meter runs. She came in fifth in the 200 meter (27.34) and seventh in the 400 meter (1:03.59).

The Lady Tigers’ 4×800 meter relay team took 10th with a time of 12:40.46.

In the Class 1A boys state meet, Gaylesville tied for 18th with Valley Head with 11 points.

The Trojans’ Aydn Heinrich took third in the 200 meter (22.93). He was also fourth in the 400 meter (52.69).

Winterboro won the 1A boys meet with 159 total points. Marion County came in second with 94 points, followed by Woodland in third with 39 points.

In the 3A girls meet, Piedmont came in 27th out of 37 teams after earning five total points. Whitesburg Christian won the 3A girls meet with 142 total points, followed by T.R. Miller in second (67.5) and Lee-Scott Academy (64).

Mattie Todd led the Lady Bulldogs with an eighth-place finish in the 800 meter run (2:39.14). She also came in 10th in the 3200 meter run (12:35.15).

Jazzmin Jackson finished ninth in the triple jump (30’1/4”). Mayley Morrow was 10th in the 400 meter run (1:05.14).

The Lady Bulldogs’ 4×800 meter relay team took fifth (11:23.32) and the 4×400 team came in 10th (4:38.67).
