COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Lady Panthers finished runner-up in the Class 3A, Area 13 softball tournament on Saturday. They blanked Fyffe 15-0 in an elimination game, then dropped an 8-2 decision to Geraldine in the area championship game.

In the win over Fyffe, Maelee Barkley led the Lady Panthers (22-18) by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs, and three RBIs. Aubrey Reeves went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs, and two RBIs. Halle Peek was also 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI.

Bella Wills collected a hit, two walks, a run, and two RBIs. Ella Coker contributed a hit, a walk, and two runs. Brayleigh Smith added a hit, a run, and a RBI. Jemma Smith finished with a hit, a walk, and a RBI.

Gabriella Whitmore walked three times, and scored twice. Lexii Burt scored a run and drove in two.

Jemma Smith picked up the win in the circle. She tossed four innings and allowed three hits with two strikeouts.

In the loss to Geraldine, Burt had a hit, a walk, and two RBIs. Reeves and Whitmore both had a hit and scored a run. Barkley finished with a hit and a walk.

Wills suffered the loss after working 5 1/3 innings. She allowed six earned runs on 11 hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Jemma Smith tossed 2/3 of an inning and gave up an earned run on two hits with a walk and no strikeouts.

Both Geraldine and Collinsville advance to East Regional play at Albertville’s Sand Mountain Park on Wednesday, May 13.
