Cherokee County Board of Education Holds Emergency Meeting, Approves Personnel Change

CENTRE — The Cherokee County Board of Education held an emergency meeting Thursday afternoon, April 30, at the Central Office Board Room in Centre, where members addressed a personnel matter.

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m., followed by a roll call to establish a quorum. The board also confirmed that proper procedures for meeting notification had been followed before approving the agenda.

During the meeting, board members approved an amendment to the effective date of resignation for Billy Turner, a teacher at Cherokee County High School. The change moved Turner’s resignation date from June 1, 2026, to take effect immediately.

No additional business items were addressed during the session.

The board noted that its next regularly scheduled meeting will be held Monday, May 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Central Office. The emergency meeting concluded shortly after the personnel matter was resolved.
