OXFORD- The City of Oxford formally marked a leadership transition within the Oxford Police Department during last night’s City Council meeting, where Chief Bill Partridge swore in Daniel Phipps as the department’s new police chief.

Chief Partridge, who is set to retire on May 1, concluded a 39-year career in law enforcement, including 19 years serving as chief of the Oxford Police Department. During the meeting, city officials and department members recognized his decades of service and leadership, noting his long-standing role in shaping the department and guiding its operations.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, Daniel Phipps officially assumed the role of Oxford Police Chief. The transition was conducted during the council meeting as part of the city’s formal proceedings, with officials expressing confidence in the department’s continued direction under his leadership.
