LINCOLN – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors finished fifth out of 17 teams in the Class 4A, Section 3 track and field meet at Lincoln High School on Saturday. The Lady Warriors scored a total of 61 points.
Ashville won the meet with 127 points, followed by St. John Paul II with 93 points. DAR was third with 90.5 points and Westminster Christian fourth with 79 points.
Deannia Starr earned first place in the shot put (37’9 1/2”) and third in the discus (109’6”). Taniya Fife finished second in the 100 meter hurdles (15.93) and second in the 300 meter hurdles (47.17). Shamiya McElrath placed second in the 100 meter dash (12.70) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (26.62). Ashton Pruitt took third in the shot put (34’11”) and seventh in the discus (101’2”).
The Lady Warriors’ 4×100 meter relay team finished second with a time of 51.51.
The Warrior boys came 15th in the boys meet with 15 points. Anniston won the boys meet with 93 total points, followed by Alexandria in second (87.5 points) and St. John Paul II in third (70 points).
Darrwin Ross finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (16.75) and 12th in the 300 meter hurdles (45.45).
Dillan Covan took sixth in the 300 meter hurdles (42.49) and seventh in the 110 meter hurdles (19.23). JV Henderson was eighth in the 300 meter hurdles (43.81).
