Home Destroyed in Friday Afternoon Fire on Lookout Mountain

GADSDEN — A home off Fairview Drive on Lookout Mountain was destroyed in a fire Friday afternoon.
The fire was reported around noon at a residence located at the end of a long dirt driveway across from the area water tower. By the time crews arrived, the structure was heavily involved and ultimately appeared to be a total loss.

Firefighters from multiple departments, including Highland, Lookout, and Black Creek, responded to the scene along with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Advantage EMS.

During the initial response, crews encountered water supply challenges and were forced to transition to a water shuttle operation, transporting water from nearby hydrants along Fairview Drive to continue firefighting efforts.

According to homeowners and neighbors, no one was inside the residence at the time the fire began. Family pets that were in the home were able to escape without injury.

In addition to the home, a boat on the property sustained damage. Flames also threatened a nearby residence, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other structures. The Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the family.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation by authorities.
