Centre to Celebrate “America 250” with Community Event at Estes Field

CENTRE— The City of Centre is inviting residents and visitors alike to come together for an evening of patriotism, music, and small-town pride during its “America 250” celebration on Friday, May 15.

The event will take place at Estes Field from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., offering a full lineup of family-friendly activities designed to honor the nation’s heritage while celebrating the local community.

Organizers say the event will feature a student-led reading of the Declaration of Independence, along with a special recognition of local veterans. Attendees can also enjoy patriotic selections performed by the community choir, as well as live music throughout the evening.

In addition to the entertainment, there will be carnival games for all ages, free popcorn, and a variety of food trucks on-site.

The event is centered around the theme “Stars, Stripes & Small-Town Pride,” and city officials encourage families and friends to attend and take part in the festivities.

Seating will be available on the cement bleachers at Estes Field, though guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs for added comfort.

Those interested in participating in the community choir are encouraged to contact Centre City Hall at 256-927-5222 for more information.

City leaders say they are looking forward to a strong turnout as the community gathers to celebrate together.
