First Friday Event Returns to Downtown Gadsden in May

GADSDEN — Downtown Gadsden will once again come alive as First Friday returns on May 14, bringing an evening of live entertainment, classic cars, food vendors, and family-friendly activities to Broad Street.

The popular monthly event follows a strong kickoff last month and is expected to draw residents and visitors alike to the downtown district. Broad Street will be closed to traffic, with classic cars beginning to arrive and park at 3:30 p.m. Festivities will officially run from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Local retail shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues will remain open late, offering attendees an opportunity to shop, dine, and explore downtown. Organizers note the event also provides a timely chance to find Mother’s Day gifts from local businesses.

Live music will be featured throughout the evening at multiple locations along Broad Street. Scheduled performers include Cross Camp Cowboy Band at 2nd and Broad, Wesley and Aaron at 3rd and Broad, The Tease at 4th and Broad, and the Big Martha Band at 5th and Broad.

“We have an exciting music line up for this month,” said Downtown Gadsden, Inc. Director Kay Moore. “Along with great live entertainment, attendees can also enjoy the ever-popular classic cars and a great variety of food vendors.”

Event guidelines include no pets, no personal coolers or glass containers, and no skateboards or rollerblades. Advertising and fundraising activities are also not permitted.
