PLEASANT VALLEY – The Pleasant Valley Lady Raiders scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 7-6 Class 2A, Area 13 softball win over Sand Rock on Thursday.
The two teams finished tied atop the area standings, but Pleasant Valley earns the right to host the upcoming area tournament due to the least amount of runs allowed in area contests.
Emma Sipsy led the Lady Wildcats (19-14) at the plate by going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, two walks, a run, and two RBIs. Aubie Camp added a pair of hits, a run, and a RBI. Raven Todd tallied two hits.
Kinzlee Peek posted a hit and a RBI. Molly Grace Lay had a hit and scored a run. Macy Martin finished with a hit. Alyvia McMichen drove in a run. Ashlyn McMichen, Taylyn Warren, and Amelia Ford each scored a run.
Sipsy tossed five innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Martin worked an inning and gave up two unearned runs on no hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Sand Rock travels to Piedmont on Monday at 5 p.m.
