SPRING GARDEN – Ben Baker allowed just two hits and struck out nine batters through four innings, and Brady Ruark closed things out by allowing two hits with a strikeout in an inning to preserve Spring Garden’s 11-0 area baseball win over Gaylesville on Tuesday.
Hays Guthrie and Dawson Ellzey both delivered three hits to lead the Panthers (13-10) at the plate. Guthrie drove in a pair of runs. Ellzey scored twice and had three RBIs.
Joel Hunter had a pair of hits, including a triple, with a walk and two runs. Ruark managed a pair of hits, a pair of runs, and two RBIs. Clayton Sadler contributed a hit, a walk, and two runs.
Baker scored twice and drove in a run. Zack Scogin walked and drove in a pair of runs.
Cole Hendon, Hayden Dodd, Sean Poss, and Gunner Walters each had a hit for the Trojans (4-9). Dodd suffered the loss and finished with five strikeouts.
The two teams conclude their area series at Gaylesville on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
