Tucker’s Chapel Fire Department was dispatched to a wildfire at the intersection of County Roads 52 and 53 at 4:20 pm Sunday. When units arrived on the scene about two to three acres were involved but was spreading quickly. They immediately called for backup from the Forestry Unit and Sand Rock Fire was called in for mutual aid. The fire had quickly spread and grown to more than 10 acres involved.
The extreme dry weather conditions combined with low humidity combines to make the potential for wildfires across the region.
Several fire departments were dispatched Sunday to afternoon to various wild grass and woods fire including Mt. Weisner and Ellisville Units.
Until significant rainfall is received across the area, outside burning is highly discouraged. During the month of April, we have only received 1.12 inches of rainfall in Centre.
