ONEONTA – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors held off Oneonta 3-1 Tuesday in area soccer action.
Isabella Segura opened up the scoring in the first half for the Lady Warriors with a goal from 30 yards out. Ava Haygood and Berkley Isaacs also contributed a goal apiece in the second half.
Bryleigh Johnson, Reagan Tallent, Escarleth Chaves, Presley Shumate, and Isabella Segura controlled the midfield for most of the game. Goalkeeper Cali Martin saved a penalty kick to keep the score 3-0. Oneonta scored its lone goal with a minute remaining for the final.
In boys action, the Warriors fell by the final of 6-2. The match was tied 1-1 at half. The Warriors had goals from Sam Frampton and Tony Mejia.
Oneonta travels to Cherokee County on Wednesday for games at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, the Warriors host Etowah with the boys game first at 5 and 7 p.m. on senior night.
